Planning a Thailand trip
Best cities for a first visit
Most first-time visitors combine Bangkok (temples, shopping, Safari World) with Pattaya (Coral Island, Alcazar show) in 4 to 5 nights. Add Phuket or Krabi for beaches and island hopping, or Chiang Mai for elephant sanctuaries and mountains.
Join-in (SIC) or private?
SIC means a shared seat-in-coach tour with other guests and fixed pickup times, which is the best value. Private car, SUV or van gives you your own vehicle and flexible timing, and is often cheaper per person for families of 4 or more.
National park fees
Island tours around Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui enter national parks. Some options include the park fee and some ask you to pay it at the pier. Each tour page shows clearly which one applies.
